[CyanogenMod 10.1] Phone freezes at boot after a wrong setting
« on: February 09, 2013, 06:21:00 AM »
Hi all,

I installed CyanogenMod 10.1 on my Galaxy 5 a few days ago.

Today I was exploring developer settings, and I accidentally touched a setting about double screen simulation while scrolling.

The phone freezed, and I can't reboot it: it freezes while booting.

How can I start ClockworkMod, or recovery from this problem?

Thank you,

I had the exact same problem, only it wasn't an accident. The only solution I found was a factory reset, unfortunately. You have to connect the usb cable and enter recovery using
Code: [Select]
adb reboot recovery.

With ODIN

Enter in DownloadMode, connect phone to PC,and you must flash the .TAR file of CMW to enter in CWM on phone.
Here is last CWM : http://goo.im/devs/psyke83/roms/galaxy5/recovery/recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-galaxy5.tar

Enter ODIN and made a pic how should be looking (At COM Port Mapping should be yellow): and click START and wait that CWM apears on your phone.

After CWM appears on phone ,to add files on SDCard just go to Mouts and Storage and go to Mount USB Storage.

I can't see my phone, on Linux. I'll try from Windows...

It is an option I considered, but I can find the last CMW for the Galaxy5.

I'm kinda surprised about this thread...

Serious question here:

"Do people not know about Safe Mode?"

All the OP needed to do here was boot into Safe Mode (on the 5500, this is done by holding "Select" during the entire boot sequence) and disable the setting that caused this issue. No need for Odin, no need for ADB.

Remember kids, if a setting is giving you trouble and you can't boot, Safe Mode can be your friend. :)

Yay! Thank you very much!

I was going crazy with Kies: the drivers did not work on Win8, and I was waiting for my brother and his Win7PC.

I did not know this mode.
