CyanogenMod vs Froyo - battery drains
« on: September 07, 2011, 10:28:37 PM »
Edit [September 19th]: If you are using a Froyo ROM (it doesn't matter whether it's stock or a MadTeam ROM), I would appreciate if you follow this same process and provide me with the logs. Just be sure to mention the ROM version you are running when posting the log. That will greatly help me to make a comparison of battery drains. Thanks!

Hey folks,

Please do me a favour so that I can troubleshoot the various battery drains in CyanogenMod vs Froyo. Follow this process (and it doesn't matter if you're using CyanogenMod or any type of Froyo - I need logs from both):

1. Ensure that you start with 100% battery.
2. Use your phone normally for at least 12 hours without a USB connection (so it is actually draining the battery).
3. When you're ready to collect the log:
Code: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
$ adb shell dumpstate >dumpstate.txt4. Upload your dumpstate.txt file to mirrorcreator.com (or any site of your choosing).
5. Make sure to describe exactly what ROM version you are using (CM7 vX.X/stock XYZ/MadTeam XYZ).
5. Provide any comments you think may be useful/important related to battery usage (as well as confirming the version of the ROM you're running).

P.S. If you're running tj_style's CyanogenMod port for the Tass [Mini], I'll be happy to look at your log as well (just make sure to label it as a Tass log, so I don't get confused).

psyke, I shouldn't charge the phone to 100% first, right? just after 12h of using v1.2 hf2?
if someone ask you what's your phone just answer "I've MADTeam Galaxy 5, what about yours?"

It's not strictly necessary, but go ahead and do it that way if you want.

I fully charged the phone and then used like 12 hours, battery draining is notable, more than hf1 (i'm running hf2).

I've updated the instructions in post #1 - I'm now looking for a more verbose log (dumpstate). I would appreciate if somebody could please provide me with this.

14 hours use and at 90% from full charge, I would say it's better than before?

It was very light use and everything at default setting.

Fully charge and using the phone around 16 hours ( this includes the 6 hours that i was sleeping and around 6 hours of idle because i was working, just 4 hours of normal use in total ), only using 3G connection, some fb apps and SMS.

50% drain battery, oh yeah.

Thanks for the logs.

Everybody else, keep sending me more logs (from the latest release, v1.3), so I can get a wider picture of the battery issues.
